Shades of Magic ended on a solemn note and left me wondering what effect this would on Liam and Taya’s relationship. At the start of Shades of Deceit which picked up immediately from where Shades of Magic left off, there was a moment when I thought their relationship would not survive this latest event, but my fears were for naught. I admit I did not like how Liam handled the situation. He kept pushing Taya away when he needed her the most and allowed his mother to make disparaging remarks about her. However, it was good to see him grow a pair and proved himself a worthy mate for Taya.
Shades of Deceit was loaded with action and fraught with danger. The traitor has been unmasked, and the villain got what he so richly deserved.
I enjoyed the time spent in this world and getting to know the characters so I was not ready to say goodbye. So, you can imagine my joy when I learnt there was another book which featured Liam’s brother, Aiden.
Heather Renee weaved a story filled with intrigue, romance, and action, which kept me on the edge of my seat. There was never a dull moment.
Kasi Howell continues to narrate, and she did an excellent job. She brought the characters to life. Her voice for each of the characters was distinct. I would definitely listen to her again.
Conclusion / Recommendation
Overall, I enjoyed the series and I am looking forward to Aiden’s story.
