Dr. Kostas Drakos an OBGYN and Prince Palaio is heading home on his brother’s request to help run the obstetrics clinic. He had no desire to make the trip home, but his brother, the king needed him. While on the plane he met midwife, Calla Lewis. The two shared an instant attraction, which led to a night of passion with no expectations of seeing each other again. Fate, however had different plans for them both. Soon they will find themselves caught up in a maelstrom of emotions.
The Prince’s One-Night Baby delivered an adorable story. It is one those books you pick up when looking for something light, short and sweet. Although not a fan of the accidental baby trope, I thought the story was well done. It held my attention from start and had me smiling in the end.
I liked both Kostas and Calla. They both had issues from their past they were working to overcome. Neither was looking for love but their chance encounter, which led to a night of passion changed it all. Kostas tried to keep Calla at a distance hoping it would keep her out of the limelight. Issues from his past influenced his actions towards Calla. In his mind he believes he was doing the right thing. However, his actions only ended up hurting Calla who harbored insecurities stemming from a previous relationship.
The romance which developed between the pair was sweet and not too steamy. It was a pleasure seeing them work through their issues to find their happily ever after. Given both their professions, one would probably expect that Calla’s pregnancy would have been the primary focus of the story. Thank goodness it was not. While it may have pushed both Kostas and Calla together quicker, it did not influence their relationship.
The Prince’s One-Night Baby was a fairly quick read with well-developed characters and a delightful romance. Recommended for fans of contemporary romance, featuring accidental pregnancy trope in a royalty setting.
